EATONTOWN, NJ Novapak's new PET 26 oz. hot-fill container simulates traditional Mason-style glass jars. Intended for sauces, salsas, jellies, preserves, peanut butter, mayonnaise and other hot-filled products, it has a wide neck for easy removal of contents and an indentation on both sides for easy handling and pouring. Ribs on the front and back, together with a concave bottom, provide strength and maintain shape when the container expands during hot filling.
Compared with glass Mason-style jars, the PET jar significantly reduces breakage during production and shipping, and on retail and consumer shelves. It is also more economical and weighs approximately 87 percent less, reducing shipping costs.
The container (Mold #1058) is 6.2" high and 3.4" square, has a 63 mm neck, is molded of monolayer PET resin, weighs 48 grams and can be filled at temperatures to 185°F (85°C). Its
26 oz. size was intended to provide one serving of sauce for a family of four.
