Novapak's 500 and 1000 ml Bullet Rounds Offer Alternatives to Glass

Novapak's new Bullet Round HDPE bottles are intended to replace glass bottles traditionally used for storage and shipment of specialty chemicals. |
EATONTOWN, NJ New 500 ml and 1000 ml Bullet Round HDPE bottles for specialty chemicals have been introduced by Novapak Corporation.
According to Alan Wood, VP of Business Development/Specialty Containers, the HDPE bottles are intended to replace glass bottles traditionally used for storage and shipment of specialty chemicals requiring exceptional container integrity and/or cleanliness. He says, "The new bottles are unbreakable, provide a wider opening than glass equivalents, are easier to both fill and to pour, are lighter in weight and have the same 38/439 neck as one-gallon and four-liter HDPE containers, therefore reducing cap inventory."
Both the 500 ml and 1000 ml bottles are offered with a flat or pressure bottom. The pressure bottom is designed to hold chemicals or products that can build internal pressure at low temperatures that can result in bulging/distorted bottoms and/or loss of container stability.
These bottles are available blow molded conventionally using compressed air as the blowing gas, or filtered nitrogen gas and then capped to ensure cleanliness for particulate-sensitive chemicals and processes. In addition, they can be fluorinated in-line using a mixture of fluorine and nitrogen as the blowing gas, chemically modifying all interior surfaces of the molten HDPE container, creating an inner barrier that resists permeation by non-polar (oil-based) solvents. This process provides a barrier property up to 500 times greater than untreated HDPE.
The 500 ml Bullet Round is 7.460 inches tall, 2.83 inches in diameter and weighs 45 grams. The 1000 ml Bullet Round is 10.535 inches tall, 3.250 inches in diameter and weighs 61 grams. Both items are available in UN approved combination packages.
